My name is Jonathan Everett. I am a Physics teacher of 20+ years. My students like to call me Mr. E., which over time became a Mystery to me.

I graduated from Elizabethtown College, PA in 1998 with a BS in Physics. I began my teaching career in 1998 in Saint Mary's County Public Schools, MD. I remember walking into my first classroom and being amazed with all the computers, technology gear, and lab equipment in the room. Next I almost came to tears over not knowing how most of it worked. On that first day I forged life long goal to master the functional use science equipment and become a passionate but thoughtful user of technology in the classroom.

Continuing education has been a driving force in my evolution as a teacher and facilitator. In 2002 I graduated from Coppin State College, MD with a M.ED. in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2006 I graduated from McDanial College, MD with a level 1 Administration Certification. In 2019 graduated from York College, PA with a certification in Educational Technology Certification. Where these degrees and certifications have been pillars in my education, equally formative have been the numerous science teacher camps, educational theory courses, and professional Physics teacher seminars I have attended throughout the summers in my career.

Currently I teach Harrisburg University Physics in the high school and 8th Grade Science at Greenwood Middle/High School in Millerstown, PA. Greenwood Middle/High is rural public school that serves 300 students grades 6-12 in Perry County, PA. In 2017 I made a major pedagogical shift and flipped the Physics class. I am the co-creater of the Quest model of differentiated assessments which serves to compliment the mission of a flipped classroom model. In my career I have authored and won 26 grants totaling $182,925 for technology and lab equipment. In my school I lead pedagogical and technology mini-workshops during our school wide collaborative planning period. My favorite flipped classroom resources come from Jonathan Palmer's Flipping Physics website. I serve on Mr. Palmer's Quality Control Team where I assist in the editing of video scripts, and the spotting of video errors. Through my professional research class and internship at York College I developed T-CAP: A Student Differentiated Learning Model. Check out the blog section this site to learn about T-CAP and how it can take take what we already know and focus it into a usable instrument fit for assessing student learning in project based and blended learning learning based education environments.

On the personal side I married my college sweetheart in 1998. Stephanie is also a Physics teacher which leads to some amazing science discussions and collaborations in the home. We have two wonderful children that, go figure, seem to love science and coding. I am a huge fan of science fiction set, "a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away..." and look forward to next 15 or so Star Wars movies produced by Disney. I have been a piano student for last 10 years and enjoy playing for family and at church. I also enjoy hiking, tennis, bowling, golfing and logging trees for exercise. I have a second professional passion for photography. You can see some of my photo work on this website.
